Winter Golf in the North

A 2 panel cartoon of a golfer playing in the winter, and getting good distance thanks to the frozen ground.

This IS Winter golf in the north. I live in Western Colorado, and once played in January when the ground was frozen. No ice, but we had basically tundra on the fairways. Thanks to the bounces, I nearly drove the green on the par 4 that usually kills me!

Winter Golf Has Its Own Advantages

Golf in winter conditions looks very different from a typical round played in warm weather. Snow-covered fairways, frozen ground, and icy hazards can make the game more challenging, but they also create some unexpected outcomes. This cartoon highlights one of those moments by exaggerating how far a golf ball can travel across frozen surfaces.

The humor comes from the contrast between poor playing conditions and surprisingly impressive results. While accuracy and control may suffer in winter golf, the firm ground and ice can dramatically increase distance in ways golfers don’t normally experience.

By exaggerating a seasonal reality, this cartoon reflects how golfers often adapt their expectations to the conditions. It’s a lighthearted reminder that even when the course isn’t ideal, the game can still produce moments worth laughing about.
